About FHMC

About

Fountain Hills spent decades without an emergency room. Getting to one meant a drive down Shea Boulevard at the worst possible moment. We were built so that our neighbours never have to make that drive again.

Why we exist

In an emergency, distance is the diagnosis

In a heart attack, a stroke, or a serious bleed, survival is measured in minutes. For years, the nearest emergency room was a long drive from Fountain Hills — through traffic, over a mountain pass, with a frightened family in the car.

Fountain Hills Emergency Room and Medical Center closed that gap. We are a fully equipped, freestanding emergency room with board-certified providers on site 24 hours a day, and a primary care Medical Clinic under the same roof — so the same team that treats the emergency also handles the follow-up.

We are not a hospital and we are not an urgent care. We are the emergency room this community built for itself, plus the everyday doctor’s office that keeps people out of it.

How we practise

Four commitments we can be held to

Always open

Our emergency room has never had closing hours. Nights, weekends, holidays — a physician is here.

Answers on site

CT, X-ray, and a full laboratory in this building — so decisions happen while you are still here.

Treated as neighbours

Our staff live here. The people in our waiting room are the people in our grocery store and on our hiking trails.

Honest about cost

Emergency care is billed at emergency rates. We say so up front and explain your bill in plain language.

Who we serve

Fountain Hills and its neighbours

Patients come to us from across the northeast Valley — year-round residents, winter visitors, and people who simply happened to be nearby when something went wrong.

About your bill, before you worry about it

If something arrives from your insurance company after your visit, it is almost certainly not a bill. It is an Explanation of Benefits — a statement of what they paid. The large number on it is not what you owe.

For emergency care, federal law limits your share to the ordinary in-network copay, coinsurance and deductible your plan already sets. We do not bill you for the difference, and we never will.

If anything you receive is unclear, call us before you pay it. Our billing team would rather explain a statement than have you pay something you do not owe.
